As we enter this Spring 2021 season, we are thankful and cautiously optimistic that the PSD has given the green light to plan the season.  The season will look a bit different and we will very likely need to adjust and adapt given the current situation.

Background Information:
Golf is an official sport offered to middle school students (grades 6, 7 and 8) in Poudre School District. This is the fourth year that a separate boys and girls team will compete.

The season is generally from Mid March - Mid May. Teams from each of the middle schools compete in 9 hole matches and an end of year 18 hole tournament. The teams will be made up of a maximum of 12 total players.

Tryouts typically consist of  two 9 hole rounds, in which scorecards and coaches observations are utilized as part of the process.  This information, combined with additional input from teachers, individual conversations, and the Kinard administration team will be used to set the team.

Boys Team Info:  Generally speaking, the golf program at Kinard has been very successful. This school community has many students that have experience with golf with most boys that have made the team in the past shooting a legitimate score in the low to mid 50's on any of the 9 hole public courses in town (Southridge/Collindale/City Park). Because of our large student body across 3 grade levels, the prior experiences of many students at the golf course, and the limited team size; this is NOT a viable opportunity for kids that are just beginning.  I would direct them and the families to local courses for information regarding junior programs/lessons.  The boys play from the men's tees (typically white).

Girls Team Info: We are excited for the girls team in its fourth year.  Coach Flemming is eager to support, teach and develop young ladies this season.  The team will consist of a maximum of 12 girls.  We are growing this program and invite all girls with some experience to introduce themselves to Coach Flemming and learn more. The girls will play from the women's tees (traditionally red at most courses)
